Pre-Kindergarten / Transitional Kindergarten
Enrollment for Fall 2026 PreK and TK is open!
Pre-Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten at Heritage provide a jump-start to the Kindergarten environment. The four and five-year-olds in our Pre-K & TK programs are given an introduction to the structured classroom, with preschool-style fun and discovery. Our Before and After School Program offers flexible hours like a daycare. While comparable in hours to other Iowa City preschools or Iowa City daycares, Heritage stands unique in its low cost for a full, or partial, day of care and education for a child.
Our Goal:
The goal of Heritage Pre-Kindergarten is to create a conducive environment for students to learn about God, themselves and their surroundings, while acquiring vital foundational skills and knowledge for a continual life of learning, exploration, investigation, experimentation and discovery. Our mission at Heritage is to lay a solid foundation for our students on which the rest of life is built. Time is a priceless commodity. It is our desire to assist parents in using this year to its greatest extent!
Heritage is introducing the Transitional Kindergarten program beginning the 2026-27 school year. The goal of our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program is similar to the the PreK program but is designed specifically for students who meet age requirements (must be 5 years old on or before September 15) and are preparing for Kindergarten the following school year. This is a full-day program rather than the partial day offered in PreK.

Pre-Kindergarten Parent Survey:
Heritage Pre-Kindergarten parents shared this with us on a survey about the Pre-Kindergarten school year:
“It has been very structured and the kids know what to expect each day. We like the encouragement from our teacher and the way we have seen our child grow this year. We really appreciate the intentional focus on making Christ Lord over every aspect of creation, which includes education!”
“There is a genuine love for the Lord from the teachers, staff, and community that is truly evident.”
“I appreciate that the Pre-Kindergarten program is structured more like a Kindergarten program than a preschool. My son has learned so much more at Heritage than he would have at another preschool.”
“Heritage Pre-Kindergarten reinforces what we teach.“
