Reflections from Head of School Brian Goodbar

Dear Heritage Community – As we near the end of another remarkable year at Heritage Christian School, it’s a moment for reflection on the incredible ways in which God has moved among us. The past year has been filled with numerous achievements and milestones, and I’m deeply grateful for the collective effort that has made it all possible.

Here are just a few highlights:

• Through the Annual Fund giving, Educating for Eternity Auction/Gala, and Operation G.O.O.D., we’ve raised an impressive $165K for Heritage Christian School!
• Our ACSI Accreditation Self-Study Report, crafted with contributions from our dedicated staff, board members, and community, received a recommendation for re-accreditation in March 2024.
• Through strategic marketing efforts on various platforms including Life 101.9, Coral Ridge Mall, and social media channels, our enrollment for the 2024-25 school year has surged by over 10%. This growth has led to the expansion of classes in Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, and 5th Grade, with waitlists in other elementary grades.
• The middle school achieved significant milestones this year, including the establishment of the first-ever Student Council at Heritage. Their initiatives, such as leading the See You at the Pole event and organizing community service activities, declaring Spirit Wear days for Veteran’s Day, Christmas, and Spring Break, and creating the first Neon Night event for 5th – 8th Grade in May have left a lasting impact.
• Other noteworthy accomplishments include the revival of our yearbook, the successful implementation of Teaching for Transformation across all classrooms, and the formation of a Master Facilities Planning Committee to chart the school’s growth trajectory.
• Additionally, our participation in athletic events has grown, with our team photos now featured prominently outside our gym. We’ve also been invited to officially join the Iowa District East, opening up new opportunities for our athletes.

As we look ahead, Heritage Christian School stands poised to continue making a profound impact on our community and beyond. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every member of our school family for their invaluable contributions to our shared mission!
