Serah Snell will be the new HCS Athletic Director and PE Teacher!
I am delighted and humbled to be given the opportunity to continue to teach at Heritage Christian School.
I attended Northwestern College in Orange City, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education with a Health Minor, a Recreation Concentration and a Coaching Endorsement. As many of you may know, I was blessed with the opportunity to student teach with Connie Keel last semester, and had the opportunity to work with each and every student at Heritage. During that time, I enjoyed working with many of those students as the assistant coach for the Heritage soccer team. Since completing my teaching certificate in December, I have been serving as the long term substitute teacher for middle school history and literature at Heritage.
I moved to the Iowa City area five years ago and now live in North Liberty with my husband, Jared. We have been blessed to be married for two years now. Jared is an engineer and works on aircraft Automatic Flight Control Systems at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids. We are members of Parkview Church and are both finishing up our second year on the leadership team for the midsized young adult “Grad Group.” During the summer I work for the North Liberty Recreation Department’s Summer Recsters Program. In my spare time, I like to play board games, read books, and be involved in sports.
I would like to share with you a scripture that has stayed with me throughout the years and it comes from I Timothy 4:8, “For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” (NIV) This verse has kept things in perspective and helped shape my philosophy on athletics and physical education.
I am looking forward to this upcoming year and am excited to be working with your students!
