Heritage teacher, Laura Bailey, will move to teach first grade in 2014-2015
Hi, my name is Laura Bailey and I’m so excited to be teaching first grade at Heritage next year. As most of you know, I have had the opportunity this year to work in pre-k with Mr. Neal. Prior to that, I’ve been a stay at home mom for the last five and a half years.
I’m originally from Wilton, Iowa. The oldest of four girls, I graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in early-childhood education. Following graduation, I began teaching at West Liberty Community Schools. During my twelve years there, I taught second grade, first grade, pre-kindergarten, and kindergarten. Because I am bilingual, a highlight of my time there was being involved in their dual-language program.
My husband Kevin and I have lived in North Liberty for a little more than three years. Kevin is a civil engineer for McClure Engineering, here in North Liberty. We have four children, Jared and Micah-13, Ethan-11, and Natalie-4. Grace Community Church is our church home. Kevin and I are involved there in various avenues, but a favorite is teaching Sunday school together.
Although I’ve taught before, this is my first experience with Christian education. How excited I am to get to share Christ freely with my students and pursue Him alongside them. A favorite passage is Psalm 37:5-6 “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this; He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. “I praise God for Heritage and the opportunity to be a part of his team here.
