Reflections from Head of School Brian Goodbar

As we approach the close of another remarkable year at Heritage Christian School, it’s a time to reflect on the incredible ways God has moved in and through our school. This year has been filled with blessings, achievements, and growth, and I’m deeply grateful for the collective effort that has made it all possible.

Here are just a few highlights from this extraordinary year:

  • Generosity Beyond Measure: Through the Annual Fund, the Educating for Eternity Auction & Gala, and Operation G.O.O.D., we raised an impressive $208,589! Thanks to these gifts—and several others that were unsolicited—we’ve been able to acquire our first school van, initiate a feasibility study for a potential capital campaign, acquire additional modular classrooms, and contract with architects to design a future building addition.
  • Incredible Enrollment Growth: Our focused marketing efforts across platforms and social media have borne fruit. Over the past two school years, enrollment has grown by 22%. As a result, we’ve expanded Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 6th grades with two sections each for 2025–26!
  • Middle School Momentum: This year saw the launch of our first-ever Middle School Retreat, and the MS Drama elective delighted audiences with its fourth annual production, playing to two full houses. The Student Council led numerous events—from See You at the Pole to Homeroom Challenges (congrats to 7th grade for their sweep!), community service projects, Spirit Wear days, and the second annual Neon Night for grades 5–8.
  • Celebrating Milestones: We celebrated the release of our second annual yearbook (thank you, Mrs. Ellerie!), fully implemented Teaching for Transformation across all classrooms, and formed a Master Facilities Planning Committee to chart our path forward.
  • Athletic Achievements: Our athletic program continues to thrive! Now officially part of Iowa District East, we celebrated league championships in Co-ed Soccer, 7th/8th Grade Volleyball, and 5th/6th Grade Girls’ Basketball.

Looking ahead, we are excited and expectant for how God will continue to use Heritage Christian School to make a lasting impact in our community and beyond.

Thank you to each and every member of our school family for your faithful support, encouragement, and partnership in our mission.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” – Matthew 6:33
