Middle School

In the Heritage middle school, students are given a foundation of biblical truth and academic excellence.

Choosing an education at Heritage Christian School is an investment that can have a lasting impact on your child’s future. We view each student as an image bearer of God—unique and valuable, with individual gifts, talents, and needs. Our faculty and staff partner with parents to help students grow academically, develop a strong Biblical worldview, discover their God-given gifts, and become confident leaders who can make a difference in their communities.

Growing in Faith, Learning, and Leadership

The Heritage Middle School program provides students in grades 6–8 with a strong foundation of Biblical truth and academic excellence as they prepare for the challenges and opportunities of high school and beyond. During these important years, students are developing greater independence, learning to think critically, and discovering how their faith shapes the way they approach their education, relationships, and responsibilities.

Through engaging instruction, hands-on learning, critical thinking, Scripture memorization, community outreach, and meaningful relationships, students continue to build the knowledge, skills, character, and confidence they need to thrive.

Our rigorous and engaging curriculum, taught by state-certified teachers, challenges students to grow while providing opportunities to discover and develop their individual strengths. Students are encouraged to take greater ownership of their learning while receiving the support and guidance they need to succeed.

We believe the middle school years are a crucial time for students to establish strong academic habits, deepen their faith, develop character, and prepare for the next stage of their education.

Our Approach

Small Class Sizes

Small class sizes give Heritage teachers the opportunity to know each student individually and provide meaningful instruction, encouragement, and support. Our teachers recognize that middle school students are growing and developing in unique ways and seek to challenge and support them academically, socially, and spiritually.

Preparing Students for High School

Middle school is an important transition between elementary education and high school. Students are challenged to take greater responsibility for their learning, strengthen their study habits, develop critical-thinking skills, and become increasingly independent.

Our goal is to prepare students not only for the academic demands of high school, but also to become young men and women who can make wise decisions, demonstrate strong character, and confidently live out their faith.

A Strong School Community

Middle school students are an important part of the larger Heritage Christian School community. Through chapel, service opportunities, special events, and relationships with students and faculty, they have opportunities to grow in their faith and contribute to the life of the school.

Students are encouraged to develop meaningful relationships with their peers and teachers while learning the importance of teamwork, responsibility, leadership, and serving others.

Curriculum & Academic Growth

The Heritage Middle School curriculum is designed to challenge students academically while continuing to integrate Biblical truth throughout their educational experience.

As students progress through grades 6–8, they build upon the academic foundations developed in elementary school while developing more advanced knowledge, reasoning, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Bible

Students deepen their understanding of God’s Word and develop a Biblical worldview through Scripture study, memorization, and the exploration of Biblical history and principles.

As students encounter increasingly complex ideas and experiences, they are encouraged to think critically about how their faith informs their decisions, relationships, education, and understanding of the world around them.

Language Arts

Students continue to develop their skills in reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, communication, and comprehension. Through literature and nonfiction texts, students engage with increasingly complex ideas while learning to communicate their thoughts clearly and effectively.

Writing assignments and classroom discussions provide opportunities for students to develop critical-thinking skills, construct thoughtful arguments, and communicate with confidence.

Mathematics

Students build upon their elementary mathematical foundation through increasingly advanced concepts, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning.

Middle school mathematics challenges students to think critically, recognize patterns and relationships, apply mathematical concepts to real-world situations, and develop the skills needed for continued study in high school.

Science

Students explore increasingly complex scientific concepts through classroom instruction, investigation, observation, experimentation, and hands-on learning.

Science instruction encourages students to ask questions, evaluate evidence, think critically, and develop an understanding of the natural world while recognizing God’s role as Creator.

Social Studies

Students develop a deeper understanding of history, geography, government, cultures, and the world around them. Through the study of historical events and societies, students are encouraged to analyze information, consider different perspectives, and understand how the decisions of individuals and communities have shaped the world.

Students are also encouraged to consider their own responsibilities as citizens and members of their communities.

Co-Curricular Opportunities

Middle school students have opportunities to explore and develop their interests beyond the core academic curriculum. Students participate in Art, Physical Education, and Music each week.

These experiences provide opportunities for creativity, physical development, teamwork, self-expression, and the development of individual interests and talents.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Education at Heritage extends beyond the classroom. Middle school students have opportunities to apply what they are learning through experiences in the community and to develop a deeper understanding of their responsibilities to others.

Field Trips

Field trips give students opportunities to explore new environments, engage with local organizations, and connect classroom learning to real-world experiences.

These experiences encourage curiosity, broaden students’ understanding of the world, and provide opportunities to learn outside the traditional classroom setting.

Community Service

Through Christ-centered service opportunities, students learn the importance of serving others and develop qualities such as social responsibility, empathy, compassion, leadership, and citizenship.

One of Heritage’s main service initiatives is Operation G.O.O.D., which gives students opportunities to put their faith into action through service to others.

Preparing Students for What Comes Next

The middle school years are about more than preparing students for the next grade level. They are a time of significant academic, spiritual, social, and personal growth.

At Heritage Christian School, students in grades 6–8 are challenged to think deeply, take greater ownership of their education, develop their God-given abilities, build meaningful relationships, and understand how their faith shapes the way they learn and live.

Our goal is to partner with parents in helping students develop the academic foundation, character, confidence, and Biblical worldview they need to enter high school prepared to succeed—and to continue growing as young men and women who are equipped to serve God and their communities.
