Help Is on The Way!

As most of you are aware, the Theme for this year at Heritage is Thrive (rooted in Romans 15:13). But, if I am honest, there are many times that rather than thrive, I am simply just trying to “survive”. (My suspicion is that I am not the only one). We have all had a lot of challenges the last couple years: COVID pandemic, remote learning the last part of the 2019-2020 school year, the derecho, the continued challenges of the pandemic last school year, and now the concern of the Delta variant of COVID this school year. Those are just the ones we had in common!

I realize that many have also dealt with job uncertainties, health issues (self and/or loved ones), anxiety, and simply burnout and fatigue. On top of that, at least for me, there are the daily doubts that creep in: are we doing enough for our kids in supporting their growth spiritually, academically, socially and physically? It can all get overwhelming pretty quickly. But before you are tempted to give up under the seeming mountain of things stacked against us, know that help is on the way!

Hang on to God’s promises! The same ones that our kids are taught at Heritage daily. God is the Good Father (He loves us and gives us our identity), the Good Shepherd (He provides and protects us), the Gracious Sovereign (we can put our hope and trust in Him) and the Vine (we simply need to abide in his process). Know that God never promised us that we would have a trouble-free life this side of heaven. Storms will come, but He will provide the peace amidst those storms.

If we look to God, we can be assured that help is on the way. He will give us what we need at the right time to help us make that switch from “survive” to “thrive”. TobyMac’s “Help Is On The Way (Maybe Midnight)” is a great reminder of this:

Sometimes it’s days, sometimes it’s years
Some face a lifetime of fallen tears
But He’s in the darkness, He’s in the cold
Just like the morning, He always shows

It may be midnight or mid-day
He’s never early, never late
He gon’ stand by what He claim
I’ve lived enough life to say …
Help is on the way

On behalf of the School Board, if there is anything that we can help you pray about, please reach out to one of us. We would be honored to help you so that you and your family can Thrive.
