My name is Rachel Super, and I live in Iowa City with my husband Josh and our puppy Max. We have been married for 2 ½ years, and we are expecting our first child at the end of May. I originally came from Sioux Center, IA, and I attended Dordt College. I graduated in December 2005 with a degree in Elementary education and a minor in art. I taught art for six months at a Christian school in Colorado right after I graduated. Then God called me to Conrad, MT to teach in a two-room schoolhouse. I taught K-8 science, social studies and art as well as reading and language for 4-8th grade. I was thankful when God called me from that small town and busy teaching assignment to Heritage four years ago. I have been teaching fourth grade at Heritage ever since. I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching at Heritage. I love the tight community in the staff, and the students are such a joy to teach! I love seeing the way students learn new things every day and learning what they have to teach me too.
In my free time I like to read, try new recipes and go for walks outside with our puppy. Our puppy keeps us very busy, and I am sure that adding a newborn to the mix in the spring will make life even busier. When I have time I like to explore different art mediums, such as batik. I take middle-eastern dance classes every week because I love learning about other cultures and exploring different art forms. My husband and I also love to travel around the US and abroad when we are able. We are very involved in our church, One Ancient Hope. Josh leads worship some Sunday mornings, and we host a small group once a week at our house. We love the way we can see God’s hand at work inside the church and in the Iowa City community.
