Hi, my name is Aimee Law, and I’ve been asked to share a bit about my life with you all. Here is my life in a nutshell. Hold on to your hat as I start the whirlwind tour.
I am the daughter of missionaries. My parents felt the Lord calling them to the mission field independently. Once on the field, God led them to one another. As a result of that union, my two siblings and myself were born in Vienna, Austria. I lived in Austria until the age of five when the mission called us stateside. From the beautiful mountain ranges of Austria, we then found ourselves in the flat plains of Dallas, Texas. It was during these years I started my early education with my mom as my teacher. At the age of nine, my parents were once again called to move to another location, this time in the Midwest. We moved to Illinois and stayed there until our next big move, Russia. During my 12th and 13th year we moved five times. I think I can qualify for most moving jobs now. The final move was our second apartment in Moscow, Russia. During this time I was able to attend an amazing missionary school. It was at this school where I first “caught” the teaching bug. During my senior year, our kindergarten teacher had to leave for a family emergency at the end of the year. I ended up filling in as the kindergarten teacher for the last month or so of school.
After high school, I returned to the US and went to school at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. While attending there I majored in Early Childhood Education and Biblical and Theological Studies. With the ending of my college days, I once again moved, this time back to Moscow, Russia. I was offered a job as a kindergarten teacher at the same school I had attended. I loved it! It was great being back in a country I had learned to love and to be working with students who loved to learn. However, my time in Russia ended all to quickly. I sensed the Lord leading me back to the US. I returned back to the US to where my parents were living and found a job as a kindergarten teacher in a nearby Christian school. The next four years were going to be years of growing and learning patience. After four years in the US I wasn’t sure why I was still here. At the end of July one year I received a call from a friend who I had taught with in Moscow. My friend now lived in Israel and was working at an international school. She called long distance to see if I was interested in teaching, as their first grade teacher had quit all of a sudden. In a about a month I was on Israeli soil teaching first grade. I ended up living with my friends for that year and had many wonderful experiences.
Once again it was time to move. This time I came back to Illinois and lived with my parents for a year. It was during this time my grandmother came to live with my parents permanently. As I was unable to find a teaching position or a full time position anywhere, I ended up being one of the primary caretakers for my grandmother during the day. At the end of that year, I was hired here at Heritage, and I have loved every minute of it. This school has been a blessing and an answered prayer. Now it seems that after three years the Lord is once again calling me elsewhere, this time to be with my soon-to-be husband. While I’m going to miss everyone here greatly, I am excited to continue on in the journey the Lord has set before me.
