As you hopefully know, our Educating for Eternity Banquet is coming up on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 5:30pm at the Marriott Hotel in Coralville. Our speaker this year is Dr. Jeff Myers, President of Summit Ministries. He is not as well-known a name as we’ve had speak in the past, but he is a fantastic and relevant speaker. As the Educating for Eternity Banquet draws near, I strongly encourage you to attend this event. I have had the privilege of hearing Dr. Jeff Myers speak on a number of occasions — most recently, as the keynote speaker at an ACSI Administrators’ Conference. There are few speakers who compare when it comes to talking to parents, acknowledging the needs of the next generation and challenging us to rise to our biblical calling as those entrusted by God with the task of guiding our children to adulthood. He is well aware of the societal “minefields” that exist for the youth of our nation and has committed his life to developing tools that help parents and educators develop critically thinking young people who will stand with confidence on biblical conviction. He is a dynamic, extremely intelligent speaker with a good sense of humor. He has a casual speaking style that resonates with his audiences because he can identify with them! He is a committed follower of Jesus Christ, a husband, a father of young children and an apologist.
On this night, as a parent, you will be encouraged, and you will be challenged. You will be reminded that you are not alone in your desire to raise children to be godly adults. You will also be reminded that action is required on our part to convert “desire” into “raising.” The stage will be set that defines what that looks like for you and me.
