Veterans Day Celebration

Heritage Christian School is hosting our Veterans Day Celebration on Tuesday, November 11 from 9:15am-11:15am. As part of an annual tradition, community members and parents are invited to join the students and staff of Heritage Christian School to honor and thank present and past members of the United States Armed Forces. Classes are suspended for the morning as the entire school participates in the half-day program.  The program will feature instrumental and choral performances, an Armed Forces Salute, and presentation of the colors.

Our guest speaker will be SFC Jeremy Richardson. SFC Richardson began his Military enlistment in the United States Army reserves June of 1996 heading to basic training at Ft Jackson, South Carolina. After completion of basic training, he then completed his MOS training as a 63W (Light Wheeled Mechanic) at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. SFC Richardson has served as a Squad leader for the 389^th Engineer Battalion, a Platoon Sergeant for the 960^th Quartermaster Company, a Section Chief for the 308^th Quartermaster Company and as a regional support NCO for the 8^th Battalion ARCD. SFC Richardson was Mobilized for Operation Iraqi Freedom I, and also for Operation Iraqi Freedom II, and served in a year-long deployment for Operation Iraqi Freedom II from February 2004 till February of 2005. SFC Richardson served a total of 21 years in the United States Army Reserves. He now lives in Solon, IA with his wife Michelle who is a teacher at Lakeview Elementary School. They have three children, Livian (11), Wyatt (9), and Emery (7). They attend Grace Community Church here in North Liberty where SFC Richardson serves on the SERT team (Security Emergency Response Team).

At the end of the event, each Heritage student shakes the hand of each veteran in attendance, thanking them for their service. It is a very memorable and special event that you will not want to miss.
